Black Orchid was produced in 2006 by perfumers of the Givaudan fragrance firm. It was described as a chypre oriental. French jasmine, black truffle, ylang-ylang, black currant, and effervescent citrus are the top notes. Tom Ford’s black orchid, more imagined than real, resides in the floral-spicy center, while the base blends woodsy notes (patchouli and sandalwood), dark chocolate, incense, amber, vetiver, vanilla, and balsam.
